Some destinations truly shine in winter, and New Zealand's Mueller Hut is a prime example.
Perched on the Sealy Range, facing the majestic east facade of Mt Sefton, this hut offers breathtaking 360-degree panoramas of glaciers, ice cliffs, and New Zealand's loftiest peaks.
Those who want to overnight or spend the day at the hut will have to work hard to make it happen. This is not a maintained track but a rocky alpine route.
After a tough 3,200 foot (1,000 meter) climb, you’ll reach a red hut equipped with bunkbeds and stoves.
Set off on a winter trek to Mueller Hut, and you're in for an incredible experience. You’ll likely have the place to yourself and if you’re extra lucky, you’ll see this area’s soaring peaks blanketed in a pristine layer of snow.
