Not every mountain is best experienced from its summit. Some are much more appealing from the ground.

The mighty Matterhorn is one of those kind of mountains.

Rising over 14,600 feet, it sits on the border of Italy and Switzerland, curving upwards from the neighboring mountains.

The razor-sharp ridgeline leads up to the crooked peak, which looks like it’s been bent in the wind.

This beast of a mountain is worthy of being seen from all angles by hiking The Matterhorn Circuit.

It’s a 93-mile (150km) demanding trek that will take you to exposed, high mountain paths, down steep, green valleys, across glaciers, through alpine meadows, and past shimmering turquoise mountain lakes.
