In an isolated corner of Northern Mongolia, live the Tstaan people (a.k.a Dukha), one of the last remaining groups of nomadic reindeer herds in the world.

Often mistakenly referred to as a lost tribe, the Tsaatan have hosted thousands of outsiders.

A visit to this remote part of Mongolia is not an easy trip. The taiga is mostly roadless and the forest can only be navigated on horseback.

Those who are up for the challenge can be guided by Tstaan reindeer herders who understand how to survive in such a harsh environment.

Spending a few days navigating the forests, looking for prime spots for the reindeer to graze would give you a brief glimpse into the Tstaan’s nomadic life.
