In one of the most isolated places in Colombia, you’ll find a group of three monoliths known as Cerros de Mavecure, the Mavecure Hills in English.
These imposing rocks rise over 820 feet (250 m) over the Amazon jungle, giving you an amazing view of the forest and rivers that surround them.
Mavecure Hills are part of the Guyanese Shield, which is estimated at 1.7 billion years old, making it one of the oldest geological formations on the planet.
Tourist services in this part of the country are almost non-existent but there are several tour companies running trips to these ancient hills.
