Sitting way up at around 14,000 feet (4,250 meters), Kongde Lodge gives you front-row views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and a whole string of stunning peaks. It’s in a quiet corner above the Khumbu Valley, far from the trekking crowds.
The lodge itself is super cozy. There are only a handful of rooms, and they’re warm, comfy, and surprisingly well-equipped for being that remote.
We’re talking hot showers (weather permitting), heated mattress pads, thick blankets, and private bathrooms.
You can actually wake up and watch the sunrise over Everest from your bed or sit outside with a cup of tea and just soak it all in.
Mealtimes feel special too. The dining area is small and warm, with a fireplace to take the edge off the mountain chill. They grow a lot of their veggies on-site, so the food’s fresh and hearty—perfect after a long day of hiking.
And if you’re into photography, especially sunrise or stargazing shots, this spot’s unreal. The skies are super clear, and there’s no light pollution at all.
Getting there usually involves a trek from Lukla or a quick helicopter ride if you want to skip the hike.
However you get there, the reward is the same: total quiet, insane views, and that awesome feeling of being high up in the Himalayas, far from everything.
