AVIATION

As much as we admire the explorers traveling to the ends of the Earth on large-scale expeditions, it's the everyday man (or woman) exploring their own backyard that often inspires us the most.

Guys like Chris Dahl-Bredine, who built an experimental aircraft in his garage in order to bring a new perspective to his life and creative vision. There isn't much glamour in this type of exploration. No sponsors footing the bill. Just hard work, cold mornings, and sometimes a bit of duct tape. Part cowboy, part photographer, part mechanic, Chris' work blends a blue-collar work ethic with a special eye for landscapes and the interconnectedness of it all. Watch the full film here.

TOGETHER WITH NIMMO BAY WILDERNESS RESORT

A far away place that feels like home

Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort is located deep in the heart of British Columbia's wild Great Bear Rainforest, on the rugged West Coast of Canada.

It's a remote retreat where luxury and wilderness collide allowing you to leave the rush behind and return to nature.

Shower in sea spray from a breaching orca as it surfaces to greet you. Watch grizzlys patrol the coast line. Paddle out to a floating sauna. Cast a line into breathtaking mountainside rivers.

Sound like your kinda place? Book your stay.

HIKING

Summiting New Zealand’s most iconic mountain

Photo: Peter Laurenson

In New Zealand, landmarks are much more natural than say France's Eiffel Tower or Egypt's Great Pyramids. One of the country's most iconic ones is a Mitre Peak that rises a stunning 5,551 feet straight up out of the fiord in Milford Sound. It's arguably the most photographed mountain in the area. The iconic shape of the peak, with its sheer cliffs, blanketed in thick rain forest and unmistakable knife edge ridge, makes it a true New Zealand landmark. Most people have only seen the peak from a cruise ship or helicopter. There's no doubt the incredible views of Milford Sound and Fiordland's mountains you can only get from standing on the top of this impressive peak are a must-see for adventure junkies visiting New Zealand.

Watch this: Summiting Mitre Peak in a Day - to see if the hike up the steep ascent with huge exposure is worth it.

P.S.: If you're going to attempt this hike, you might want to check out the scrambling skills video we also featured in this issue.
