Hi!

It’s time to get your Adventure Fix, your weekly injection of inspiration to help you live your most badass life. If you enjoy it, share it with your friends.

Let’s do this

WILDLIFE ENCOUNTERS

Great White Shark Submarine

Guadalupe Island in Mexico is a world famous destination for Great White shark encounters. Most of these dives are done in cages that are attached to boats.

In this video, Mark Vins does something a bit different. This wouldn’t be an ordinary shark cage adventure. Instead, he enters a self-propelled ocean cage (S.P.O.C) along with the vessels pilot, Erick Higuera, to encounter the world’s largest predatory shark at depth.

Oh, did I mention, this is an experimental craft.

EXPEDITIONS

Running Solo Across Kyrgyzstan

Running Solo Across Kyrgyzstan

Photo: Jenny Tough

In this video, Jenny Tough (yeah, that’s her real last name) tells her story of running just over 560 miles (900 kilometres) in 25 days from the northeast city of Karakol via the Tien Shan mountains in Kyrgyzstan, solo and self-supported.

The expedition took her through some stunning and challenging landscapes, using ancient nomad trails and incredibly rough tracks, accessing mountain passes up to 13,100 ft (4000m).

For Jenny, this adventure was as much about mountain running and pushing the absolute limits of her physical capabilities as it was about exploring the largely isolated and unheard of culture of the Kyrgyz nomads.

Lodge to Lodge Trekking in the Peruvian Andes

Andean Lodges is a community project that’s on a mission to create sustainable ecotourism in the Andes by offering unique trekking experiences on the Apu Ausangate Route in Peru.

Unlike many of the other hiking routes around Cusco, on the Ausangate trek, you won’t find any ancient ruins. Hikers, mountaineers and nature lovers come here for the out of this world scenery and to get a glimpse into Andean culture.

Think snow-capped peaks, turquoise lakes, glaciers, and strange rock formations. Seeing Vinicunca, aka the Rainbow Mountain, is a highlight of the journey for many. Deep turquoise, rust red and golden yellow paint the Earth making it one of nature’s most beautiful creations.

Each night, the hiking group arrives at one of the four lodges that were built by Andean Lodges. These lodges are not simple huts but luxury accommodations complete with private bathrooms and hot showers.

Andean Lodges offers trekking packages from 2 days / 1 night up to 7 days / 6 nights.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

The Whole Enchilada, Moab Utah

Dusty Trails MTB gives us all the details on how to prepare for The Whole Enchilada, one of Moab’s most iconic mountain bike trails. It’s a mostly downhill ride (if you opt for the shuttle) that takes you from the high alpine down to the red desert.

The TWE isn’t for everyone. Even with the lift, it’s not an easy ride. Big climbs and gnarly descents makes this route a real challenge. Many sections are steep and loose. It’s a big undertaking. Even experienced riders find it intimidating.

If you’re up for the challenge, check this video. Hopefully it will show you some of the fun you are in for and help you prepare to tackle The Whole Enchilada.
